The molecule resveratrol is a polyphenol produced by grapes, blueberries and other plants as a natural defense against harsh environmental conditions and pathogens. With dozens of publications and clinical studies, resveratrol is considered one of the most studied molecules used as a dietary supplement to promote health. Both through its antioxidant action and by stimulating other protective mechanisms, resveratrol supports and strengthens our cellular system. In addition to a protective effect for age-associated diseases, a direct and indirect antioxidant effect has also been described. Although the molecule has already been thoroughly researched, scientific investigations for further applications are still ongoing.

Function of resveratrol.

Resveratrol works at the cellular level to promote healthy living. Mitochondria, our body's power plants, play a significant role in this process. As we age and as a result of everyday stressors, mitochondrial function steadily declines, leading to impairment of many bodily functions. These include the cardiovascular system, tissue systems such as skin and bone, and cognitive function. The energy tank in our cells thus becomes increasingly scarce until eventually the juice runs out.

According to studies, the bioavailability of resveratrol is subject to circadian fluctuations.(R) While most studies have investigated a morning dosage, the literature also describes an evening intake.(R) We recommend a daily intake of 500 mg trans-resveratrol, as this is when bioavailability is highest.(R, R) To do this, simply take a QSCOOP resveratrol powder together with a meal, ideally breakfast.

Yeast fermentation is a prime example for the alternative production of products. Its broad potential is exploited by means of biotechnological modification. For the production of resveratrol, a large part of the necessary enzymes is already present in the yeast. Only four additional plant genes are added to the yeast, which convert the naturally existing amino acids into resveratrol. In addition, adaptations are necessary for this process to run efficiently. On the one hand, undesirable genes - such as those that degrade or alter resveratrol - must be optimised. On the other hand, the yeast must be adapted to cope with high levels of resveratrol in its environment.

How should I store resveratrol?

The molecule resveratrol is best stored in a cool, dry place. Also keep out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Please keep out of the reach of children. There are several ways to do this:

On the one hand, our recyclable and environmentally friendly MoleQlar stand-up pouches provide adequate protection against high temperatures, solar radiation and moisture. After opening the welded seam, care should be taken to ensure that the bag always remains sealed by means of a pressure seal. This enables adequate and safe storage of resveratrol.

On the other hand you are also welcome to use our QJAR jar. The practical jar made of opal glass is not only sustainable and environmentally friendly, but also a useful alternative to the classic bags. Simply fill the powder into the jar and access the resveratrol conveniently and easily when needed. The jar holds a maximum of 100ml, so depending on the density, that means about 30g of resveratrol powder.

How can I measure resveratrol correctly?

The molecule resveratrol is offered in powder form, among other things. Accordingly, the question of the correct measurement often arises. The following options are available to you:

Measurement by laboratory or fine balance

If you want to measure resveratrol down to the milligram, you should at best get a precision scale. Various, relatively accurate models are already available from 10-15 euros on Amazon.

Measurement with the QSCOOP

In your bag of resveratrol you will also find a QSCOOP from MoleQlar. This measuring spoon holds a total of 1 ml - so depending on storage and density, this means about 500 mg of resveratrol powder.

Dimension with standard teaspoon

Approximately 3 ml fits into a classic smooth teaspoon. This corresponds to an amount of about one gram of resveratrol.

How should I take resveratrol correctly?

Resveratrol is best taken with a meal. The molecule resveratrol is in fact a fat-soluble molecule. Therefore, we recommend taking it together with a spoonful of vegetable oil (olive, flax or pumpkin seed oil - depending on your preference) or mixed in a yogurt. According to studies, the bioavailability of resveratrol is significantly better in the morning. Also, it should be consumed before a meal, otherwise the stomach acid, stimulated by the food, will break down the micronutrient more easily.(R)

What is the shelf life of my purchase?

In principle, you can assume a shelf life of about two years. This information serves only as a guideline, can therefore vary and is without guarantee. The exact best-before date of your purchase can be found on the bottom of the resveratrol can or on the packaging. Resveratrol is 98% pure. What does the rest consist of?

Verite™ resveratrol is approved in the EU as a "novel food" under the Novel Food Regulation. The prerequisite for this is scientific proof that consumption is safe for health. The manufacturing process using genetically modified yeast is taken into account. The yeasts "modified" for the fermentative process are considered "genetically modified"(GM) under EU legislation. Foods and ingredients produced using GM microorganisms are not subject to labeling requirements, provided that no residues of the production organisms are detectable in the products. This also applies to Verite™ Resveratrol and confirms that no genetically modified microorganisms are present in the pure substance.

Trans is not a reference to the genetic manufacturing process, but stands for one of two possible structural forms(cis or trans isomers). The remaining components (less than 2%) are therefore only degradation products of resveratrol or its cis-isomer form.

Is Veri-te™ Resveratrol genetically modified?

Veri-te™ Resveratrol is genetically safe, as only the genes of the yeasts that produce the resveratrol have been modified. The yeast cells are completely removed during the manufacturing process so that only pure resveratrol remains at the end.

It is therefore merely a modified process, not a product modified by genetic engineering.
